Review Measurement Specifications<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The measurement specification defines the dimensions the garment is expected to achieve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Depending on the product and customer, it may include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Points of Measure<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Base-size measurements<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Size grading<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tolerances<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Measurement methods<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Diagrams or reference points<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But a measurement table should not be reviewed independently from the garment design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example, a measurement may technically be listed in the spec while conflicting with the sketch, construction, pattern intent, or another measurement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is why understanding the garment first is important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Numbers should describe the garment\u2014not contradict it.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. Do Not Guess When Information Conflicts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Suppose the sketch indicates one construction while another page indicates something different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The factory should not simply choose whichever instruction appears more reasonable and continue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">First determine:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What is different?<br>Why might it be different?<br>Which direction appears technically consistent with the intended product?<br>What needs customer confirmation?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The production team may be able to identify the likely correct answer through the design, previous comments, approved references, construction logic, or other available information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But there is an important distinction:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Finding the likely correct answer is not the same as receiving production confirmation.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the information is customer-controlled, the discrepancy should be communicated and the correct direction confirmed before it becomes the production standard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">8. Investigate Before Sending the Question Back<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When conflicting information is found, simply sending:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cWhich one is correct?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">may not be the most effective communication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The production team should first understand the issue as much as reasonably possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Tech Pack Page A indicates one construction.<br>Page B indicates another.<br>Based on the sketch and intended garment construction, A appears consistent.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now the customer receives a specific issue and a proposed direction rather than an unexplained question.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This can reduce unnecessary communication cycles and speed up development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A useful flow is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>IDENTIFY \u2192 INVESTIGATE \u2192 EXPLAIN \u2192 RECOMMEND \u2192 CONFIRM<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">9. Use a Mock-Up When Words Are Not Enough<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some construction issues are difficult to explain clearly through email, comments, or marked-up sketches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In those situations, a mock-up sample can be extremely useful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A mock-up may demonstrate:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Two possible constructions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Seam or finishing options<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Placement differences<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Shape or proportion<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Function<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Difficult technical details<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The mock-up does not always need to be a complete garment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Its purpose is to make the technical question easier to understand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>When written instructions are unclear, a mock-up can sometimes communicate the problem more accurately than another email.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The mock-up can then be submitted together with an explanation of the discrepancy and the proposed solution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/apparelproductionlab.com\/garment-sampling-process\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"2712\">For more information about how samples move through development and approval, read <strong>Garment Sampling Process: From First Sample to Production Approval.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">10. Request Correction or Confirmation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once the correct direction has been confirmed, the documentation should also be corrected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the customer confirms by email that one instruction is correct but the tech pack continues to show the old information, the same problem can return later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The confirmed decision should therefore be incorporated into the working technical documentation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The goal is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>One confirmed direction \u2192 One current production reference<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Verbal or email clarification may solve today&#8217;s question.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Updated documentation helps prevent tomorrow&#8217;s mistake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">11. Revision Control Matters<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Revision control should make two things possible:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Preserve what changed<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">and<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Make the current instruction unmistakable<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A practical system may retain the complete history of the tech pack while clearly identifying superseded information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example, each revision or page may show a date, and obsolete versions may be visibly marked with a large <strong>X<\/strong> or <strong>SUPERSEDED<\/strong> indication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The latest working version should clearly show its most recent revision date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Where practical, using both a revision number and date provides even clearer control:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Rev. 01 \u2014 Aug 10<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Rev. 02 \u2014 Aug 14<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Rev. 03 \u2014 Aug 18 \u2014 CURRENT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This can be especially useful when more than one revision occurs on the same day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Revision control should preserve the history without creating confusion about which instruction is current.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">13. Do Not Simply Delete the History<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is value in keeping previous revisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If a production issue appears later, the revision history can help answer:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What changed?<br>When did it change?<br>What instruction existed at that time?<br>Which version was distributed?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This can be useful when investigating the root cause of a development or production discrepancy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The objective is therefore not to erase old information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is to make sure nobody accidentally uses it as the current production instruction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Keep the history. Clearly cancel the obsolete instruction.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">14.
